The
Royal
Sunset Resort is located on 'Atata Island, a short
boat ride from the Capital, Nuku'alofa and
features 24 Beachfront Fales, Polynesian
Restaurant and Bar, Swimming
Pool, Sundeck, Boutique and Library. |

The
traditional 24 fales are beachfront and buried in lush tropical gardens,
surrounded by white coral sands and a shimmering lagoon.

The resort is located on the southern tip
of the island and features 16 western beachfront fales with 4 Superior
Fales.
The fales accommodate up to four, all
with fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, ensuite and overhead
fans.
Beachfront eastern fales are available as
a budget accommodation, with hot shower, fridge and ensuite

Diving
For those wanting to dive crystal clear
waters with excellent marine life and superb coral dive sites. Our boats
are within minutes of many fun diving spots. Expert local dive guides
from Royal Sunset take you to the beautiful clear waters surrounding the
Tongan Islands. Dive "ET", Ha'atafu drop-off, Telemachus Reef, King's
Reef, Hakaumama'o' and the Boiler. |
Fishing
The village of 'Atata is renowned for its
fishing prowess. The inhabitants have been fishing for Yellowfin and
Skipjack tuna, Wahoo, Mahi-mahi and Marlin from open boats for over 100
years. Similarly, sport fishermen and women have the opportunity of
fishing the well known Duffs Reef, and surrounding fishing grounds. |

Surfing
Tonga is one of the last unexplored locations in
the world, with its endless reefs can give to surfers "magic emotions"! ET,
RAZORS, LOONEYS are just some of the spots 10 min. by boat from the resort.
October to April is the best time with north swells. |
Village
The Resort
borders a fishing village where guests are welcomed to experience the
traditional culture and way of life of the friendly villagers
- kava parties, and
many aspects of the relaxed 'fakatonga', the Tongan
way. In the village visitors can find two
churches (Sunday singing is a must), a school, and a plantation.
There are 8
acres of tropical garden and coconut palms providing privacy and walk
opportunities. |

Boiler. You can even dive with the Whales during August - September. Royal
Sunset Island Resort is on 'Atata Island and the property is set in an eight
acre tropical garden only seven miles away from downtown Nuku'alofa. The resort
is in a beautiful natural environment, existing in harmony with a traditional
fishing village which provides staff, fish, entertainment and a wonderful
cultural exchange experience for guests. As well as the peaceful surroundings
and the village association. Property description: 14 two room fales (bungalows)
up to 4 people and 2 superior on the western side, 10 on the eastern at cheaper
rate, all located on an idyllic beach.

Sites Visited:
Scuba divers can enjoy the rich flora
and fauna of the pacific ocean, cave dives or drift dives around one of the best
locations of the Kingdom of Tonga and just few minutes by boat from the resort
like the Ha’atafu Cave, the Duff Reef wall with big fishes and sharks. A wreck
just off the island can take you back to 1915 steam powered vessels era.
